How to Fix My Computer That Only Connects to YouTube & Google

A frustrated user sits in front of a glowing computer screen, where only YouTube and Google are accessible, while other websites remain dimmed and unreachable. Ethereal representations of DNS servers and network pathways float around, symbolizing the complexity of internet troubleshooting.

Have you ever experienced the frustrating issue where your computer only connects to YouTube or Google—and nothing else works? I recently spent two full days dealing with this exact problem, and it drove me crazy. That’s why I’m writing this—to save you from the same headache.

At first, I blamed the weather. We had storms and heavy rain, so I assumed the internet connection was down. But my phone was working just fine—connected to all websites without a hitch. That’s when I realized the issue was only with my computer that only connects to YouTube or Google and no other sites.

I tried restarting the modem, disabling the firewall, running virus scans—nothing worked. Since the only website I could access was YouTube, I started searching for solutions there. Eventually, I found the fix. It was so simple, and it worked instantly.

✅ Here’s How to Fix a Computer That Only Connects to YouTube or Google:

The issue is usually caused by incorrect or outdated DNS settings. Here’s how to change them:

Step 1: Update Your DNS Addresses
For IPv4, use:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

For IPv6, use:
2001:4860:4860::8888
2001:4860:4860::8844

These are Google’s public DNS servers, and they work great.

Step 2: Restart Your Computer
Once the DNS addresses are set, restart your computer. That’s it! Your browser should now be able to access all websites again.

If your computer only connects to Google or YouTube, this DNS fix should solve it instantly—just like it did for me. I hope this saves you time and stress!
